Old A/Z map of the area which shows the railway line going around the hospital but no station is marked

Used to play on the line as a kid around 1967 and cant recall any station or remnants of a station near the hospital.Its still possible to walk part of the line if you go along the path at Littlehill golf clubhouse and you can make out parts of the line in Balornock and Barmulloch

And the view you will see today out and about in your taxi

Looking at this photo its possible that the station was situated in the goods yard just at the bottom of bargaryhill rd just below Southview terrace on the A/Z and then the casulties were driven into the hospital..The perimeter wall of the goods yard was still there a few years ago..will have a look and see if its still there

In September 1914, at the beginning of the First World War, the hospital was requisitioned by the Royal Army Medical Corps and wounded servicemen arrived by specially converted 'ambulance trains' terminating at a temporary railway platform built within the hospital grounds. A staff of 240 nurses as well as volunteers from the St. Andrew's Ambulance Association cared for over 1000 patients at any given time, until the return of the hospital to civilian use in the spring of 1920.

Thanks for the research, i knew a old line ran up wallacewell rd but knew nothing about it going round the hospital

I lived in Milton and Springburn and I remember trains coming in to that area, it was a goods yard at that time, coal and such like for the hospital?
