I don't know why that would cause a problem but you could give Firefox + AdBlock Plus a wee try.

I followed the instructions & the ads went. Now each page takes ages (up to a minute to load. Is this common ?
I think i would rather bear with the ads. Any suggestions?

It depends. Your PC might, and I say might, have some spyware etc on it hence the
reason it's running slow. Did you follow the instructions and back up your original
HOST file? If so, delete the new one, the rename your old one back to simply HOSTS
(no file extension).
Incidentally, all AdBlock type programs alter the HOSTS file themselves to block
the ads.
Alternatively, the ZIP file below has 3 different HOSTS files in it. The OLDHOSTS
file is a typical 'blank' HOSTS file, whereas you might want to try the file called HOSTS
as it only contains about a quarter of the blocked links in it.

Can I get rid of all the adverts which keep appearing on every page, and within the posts? _________________ "Oh I was born in Glasgow, near the centre of the town - I'd take you there and show you but they've pulled the building down..... " borrowed frae the big yin. |

I'm sure someone will figure out how to do it in Windoze 7 soon enough.
Me? I didn't touch Vista with a bargepole and I aint going near this new one either.
Win XP and Win 2000 on dual boot here, working fine...

Alas for my sins i get them free anyway..
Wondows 7 is much better than old Vista ever was and to be fair i was a staunch supporter of Vista both in 32 and 64bit form.
These have now been replaced with a swanky Tesla cored machine from Nvidia with Windows 7 64bit...
Only gripe i have so far is it's locked down so i cant even see the system properties and Sisoft Sandra has a wee heart attack when pointed at it and wont scan or report either.
Was only advised to Tell my insurer of a change to my policy to the tune of 4900 which is what it will cost if it goes missing. _________________ MY FLICKR
