The problem lies in the fact that the so called Maritime museum/heritage will not enter into negotation on that very idea Stu.
They did not even want to go into a conversation about donor beams for the ressurection of Cutty Sark as some anal little bam is looking to line his pocket out of having it broken up rather than take a token payment in kind to save the hulk from destruction.
It was supposedly moved to Irvine for a restoration when it would have cost a mere fraction of todays bill but it quickly turned out to be cash to bureaucrats and the lining of fat cats pockets and out of sight is out of mind.
Personal point of view on this is that they should be called to task and an inquiry held as no one from Irvine involved in the slaughter of this Icon should be able to hold their head high in public ever.
This whole fiasco stinks of incompetence and greed.

Townhead’s new look is a real winner (Evening Times)
A MAKEOVER which transformed a Glasgow neighbourhood with stunning artwork
has scooped a national award.
The project, inspired by Scotland's greatest architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh,
saw sculptures erected in Townhead, where Mackintosh was born.
Now, Glasgow Housing Association and its partners behind the innovative scheme
have won the Transformation Award at the 2009 Sustainable Housing Awards.
The project saw Townhead improved with a new games court and play park,
measures to improve parking, landscaped areas and striking large artworks
designed by local school pupils.
Three sculptures, featuring an eye-catching lighting display, were designed
in partnership with the Gorbals Art Project - and dedicated to Mackintosh.
Artist Liz Peden, who produced the pieces, said: "The people of Townhead embraced
the artwork and felt a sense of ownership of it, but most of all they were proud
that Charles Rennie Mackintosh was born in Parson Street in Townhead and
that the work was dedicated to him."
The project saw off stiff competition from around Britain to take the top prize
at the awards, which were held in London and hosted by Channel 4 newsreader
Jon Snow. The awards focus on the UK's best "green" social housing projects.
The artwork was delivered as part of GHA's Neighbourhood Quality Improvement
Fund (NQIF) programme, a partnership between GHA and Glasgow City Council's
Land and Environmental Services which aims to improve neighbourhoods by
revitalising public spaces.

Drive-by shooting victim, 48 ‘serious’
by Deborah Anderson
A DRIVE-BY shooting victim was found by a group of golfers who discovered him lying in a ditch beside a fairway.
The horrified group discovered the wounded man while playing a round on Sunday morning.
They immediately dialled 999 and the 48-year-old victim - who was shot in the leg - is now in a serious but stable condition in the Southern General.
Investigations were continuing into the shooting beside Caldwell Golf Club, near Neilston, in East Renfrewshire.
Detective Inspector Sam Carson said: "We appeal to any drivers who were travelling along Lochlibo Road between midnight and 10am on Sunday to contact us."
.....................................................................................................
This is the kind of thing that really scares me, these drive by shootings. If the story is straighforward and a guy was just playing around of golf gets shot FFS, for no other reason that a thrill for the shooters. Its just sickening |

Given that the Police are looking for folks who may have driven by between midnight and 10am it's highly dubious he was out golfing. I doubt even Stevie Wonder manages a round in the dark. I think it was the folks who found him that were mid round.
I know random 'kudos' shootings are rife over the pond but do you know the price of black market bullets over here? More expensive by an order of magnitude than the guns themselves .. and bloody hard to get .. I can't see any criminal worth his salt wasting them on a random for a laugh - not yet anyway .. give it a year or two.
