Has I-tunes stopped attaching DRM to your own music where it means you can only use it on your pc and ipod when you tag it.

I stopped using it for this very reason as i have a Yamaha media streamer connected to my hi-fi and it would not play anything that had been tagged in I-tunes. Erm had to use another tool to reclaim all my music including the stuff i bought from the I-tunes store.

I seem to be caught in a loop of 80's albums I trawl music stores ebay itunes you name it. then it gets ripped to mp3 and the disk placed in the loft.
I think my house is sinking lmao...

Anyone got any H2O on Cd they are willing to part with LMK lol as this is the real quest and its how my woes started almost 15 years ago ...

I have a Vista media center PC hooked up to my TV and hifi. I have gradually been ripping my CDs onto it in lossless format and it is wonderful to have all that music instantly accessible without having to search through cupboards, open jewel cases etc.

Highly recommended.

James to the rescue please!!!!

I persuaded my friend to give away her old pc for someone in need instead of scrapping it and now we are having troubles wiping her hard drive of personal data, problem is she has already deleted it ( sigh ) so the wonderful links you have posted aren't of any use as it seems, unless one wants to spend 40 quid.
Problem is that the pc runs on windows 2000 which she doesn't have the OS discs for any longer, and all I can offer her is XP, pc is too old for that though. We thought just wiping it all and then re-installing it would be an option but that's a no go.

Just now she is sitting there all tense and grumbly because it took her ages to connect her old pc to the internet and I am stuck!!!!!!

If you want to simply wipe the hard disc, all you need is a Windows 2000 or Win XP
CD - stick the disc in, reboot the PC, (you may need to enter the BIOS to change
the boot sequence to make sure it boots from the CD) and press a key when it displays
the message 'Boot from CD?'

This should take you into the Windows set-up. In here is an option to delete any
existing partitions. This will wipe the disc clean and you then create a new partition(s)
and re-install windows. I can give you a Win 2000 CD if you need one.
