It sank a few times..... they also filled it with concrete to try stop it sinking! (the idea was that it would seal the holes and stop water coming in but no, it just sank it)

that photo of waves pub shows my place of work in the background in the late seventies.the north british electrical and cycle co ltd,200 clyde st,gone now but great to see it again as i really enjoyed working there.  |

If I'm talking about the very same HMS Carrick, it's sad latter history continues. Known previously as the City of Adelaide, there is another brave effort to achieve the seemingly impossible aqnd have her rescued and restored; see City of Adelaide website:

I haven't got a date for this shot at the moment, may be able to dig one up. It was between 1977 and 79 though. I used to know why she keeled over, but not now. I've got a feeling it wasn't something as simple as a storm though, more to do with the tide and the way she was moored being a bit cackhanded. I've got a cousin who's ex-Merchant Navy, he tends to know about this sort of thing, I'll ask him. Failing that, the Herald microfiches in the Mitchell will tell all. |

Yep, that's the one. I remember it lay in that position for some months but I always thought it was as a result of a storm, so maybe I was wrong.

Thats a bit before my lifetime... but I do remember it still being moored there when I moved to Glasgow and then reading about how it sank over night at least twice

The first picture is definitely the Bluevale & Whitevale tower blocks, but the model
picture looks to me like the Balgrayhill scheme. The road at the bottom is Springburn
Road and the maisonettes are between the two towers and the main road. The
road at the far right is Hawthorn Street.

Heard some nutter drove along the quarter of a mile connecting corridor ot them maisonettes on a motorbike in 1974.
