I hope you are wrong Scary as it is intended to cut the amount of traffic having to go over the Kingston Bridge. But I suppose that when they first build the M8 they didn't think the volume of traffic would have been so great so we will have to wait and see.

Found this on another site (posted by Hollowhorn)

This is the Paisley Rd on ramp to Kingston Bridge that I remember from right to left across the pic sweeping up towards Paisley Rd
Weir St is the road running middle / left to top and Houston St is left to right in middle in front of the remaining tenements (Where Harry Ramsdens and Travelodge are now) with Houston Place on the middle right.
All the tenements still visible there on Paisley Rd including the Moy Bar ( probably in the middle of that pic) where I had a few underage bevvy sessions in the Snug Bar

At a guess that pic was taken around 1972/73 as the Moy Bar was virtually isolated when I was in there in 77.

I have no memory of Houston St being white Alex, I`m sure it was mostly cobbled. I see Weir St is showing up white too, maybe the bridge contractors concreted the roads for construction traffic ?

This was taken the same day, in June 1976. Now I'm trying to remember when the Carrick had it's mishap.

A fairly mundane view of Buchanan St but it still looked good in summer.

Re: the Clyde walkway, I used to spend my lunch hours watching the various bands performing, I think during 78-79, beneath the Suspension Bridge.

The time it capsized after that storm, it lay for months on it's side. Then of course it was moored further up the Clyde. As it's the only one I know of, what others befell it?
