Interesting to see the original slip road from Paisley Road to the Kingston Bridge in middle right of pic

Lowlight, a pal of mine in the late 80s worked in the nearby Right Half (run by seriously serious people   ). Occasionally, at the end of his Saturday morning early shift we would resort to the Trading Post; in the middle of which of course there was an real actual lamppost. On these mornings there was a proper amateur singers session always running. This was in the fair days before kareoke wrecked all that.

In amongst the dingy interior an ‘awfully refined lady’ would get up an give a rendition of a holy song like the Lord is My Shepherd. The general hubbub would lower to a quieter level (albeit nothing like silence). Then after she did her single song dint, the full racket resumed.

As a manky, Saturday morning pished  drinker turned and said to me and my pal one day – “she’s f*****g great, pure holy man an everthin”. As Tom Shields would have wrote; "we know what he meant.”

Aye. It wasn't actually built like that was it? I think it's an exit not an entrance?

An onramp from PRW would actually be quite good.... would save having to drive away round taking left after right after left etc

My memory of it is vague, but I remember a junction of sorts at Weir St roughly where the off ramp is at Harry Ramsdens.

That's the one. It was built as an off ramp not an on ramp.

I`m not convinced with that James. I used to play on the bridge on my Bogie during construction and have a vague memory of coming down Weir St with the tenements still there on my right, it`s possible that I came off the end of the bridge and turned into Weir St, but i`m not sure (long time ago   ). The white coloured ground behind the Travel Lodge is what remains of Houston St.
I need to dig out some old pics to see now

I think it will be a massive headache, all sorts of hold ups and traffic tailbacks. I`m not looking forward to it at all

Hopefully they will be able to limit any disruption to the bare minimum

It will hopefully all be worth it in the end.
