What Camera Should I Buy?Looking for some advice on buying a camera and I know some of you guys will be good for it.
I've got around £300 to spend on a DSLR and I don't know where to start as I've always been a 'point and shoot' kinda guy. I'm really keen to start learning properly and want a camera that's reasonably simple to use but will still teach me all the gubbins.
Anyone help?

Maybe look for a second hand canon 400D on ebay or something. £300 is just below the threashold for a proper SLR perhaps. Before I get slated, yes you can get something like a lumix but they arent proper slr by definition

Cheers Stuball, I appreciate that. You reckon that camera is the best for the kinda money I've got? There are a few on Ebay, I'll keep an eye on them.

I've a 400d, and i love it. And if a blonde like me can manage it, you'll find it easy lol

You might be able pick up a Canon 350D for just under £300.
Just remember you'll want new lenses, bags, flashes etc to go with the new toy.
Or buy a new 400/450D from Curry's and pay it up.

We just bought my daughter a Sony Alpha 200 ... Bang for buck its a great setup...
She is still finding her way with it but seems to be coping well...
Big mate has just bought one too as he was quite impressed with it and never had a whole lot of cash to be throwing around.

After much deliberation I decided to go for the Sony Alpha 200.
I quite fancy the Canon but I would rather buy new than second hand if I can get the 'new' one at a decent price.
I paid £270 at Argos for the Sony.
No idea what I'm doing with it yet but here's a few practice shots.

Advice on cameras?Hi everyone,
I just wondered if anyone can advise on a decent (probably second-hand) digital camera for about £100? I currently use a five year old 3.1Mp Kodak which is (and let's be fair) quite rubbish. Good for pics of the family but not much more.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Robbie.

Point n shoot or something a little more advanced ?
Asda stock loads in the point in shoot bracket best of are nikons and fuji.
It really depends how advanced you want it and what you want to do with it.
Casual photo's the odd party and wedding = Point n shoot
Something a little more on the creative side aim for SLR though 100 quid would severely limit you on this side of the fence.

I got a sandisk extreme III 30m/bits 8Gb card from 7dayshop... very fast and never had a stability problem. Never had stability problem with any CF card

Was talking about Aldi/lidl/cheapies In general Stu ...
I had a major pain with 2 sandisk extremes IV locking up my 400d (Post almost 2 years ago now) jessops were arsey about it saying both of them could not possibly be wrong...
Now use Calumet ProSpec cards ... Slightly Expensive but the Udma mode in the reader rocks along at 45MB/sec though the 400d does not support this feature reading from camera

Sandisk have a lifetime guarantee, send them back for replacements

These failed in the camera on purchase day Alan...
It still wont fire on Sandisk Extreme IV's choosing instead to lock up..
First time it happened Jessops replaced the camera body then replaced the card and finally gave me a refund.
