Steam Train Monster Moves C5 8pm

A team transports a 100-tonne vintage locomotive across two continents, returning it from Bloemfontein in South Africa back to Glasgow, where it was built and is now due to go on display in the city's transport museum. A long, slow journey, it is complicated by the determination to move the train in one piece rather than dismantle and transfer it in sections

I saw this last year Its a great bit of telly!

Great little sound track that goes with it

It will be shown again on National Geographic Wed 4th March @ 8am then repeated Wed 18th March @ 12pm.

If no one has that channel I'm downloading it and will gladly upload it for people to watch.

Missed it... typical

I noticed the loco has disappeared from the Nitshill council yard. Any ideas where it's being restored?

Monster Moves - 100 Tonne

You'll need some sort of archiving tool like 7-zip, WinRar to extract the files.

Any problems let me know.

No probs.

Fantastic footage of it coming into Glasgow... I'd have liked to have been around to see that for myself.

P.S. They wouldnt have had so many crane problems if they used the Finnieston Crane

Glasgow Steam Special

Not exactly related to the topic above but according to my source there will be a double headed steam engine hauled train departing Glasgow Central heading north via the R&C (Rutherglen & Coatbridge) line  tomorrow morning departing GC at 10.55am prompt.

2x Black 5 steam loco's hauling at least 12 carriages apparently. Might make for an unusual if not impressive sight if your out and about.

And here they are!
