Stu ...not sure exactly when they were taken as I pulled them off the Springburn reminisance website ...I used to go in there as a boy and remember it well..would guess looing at the quality of the pics late 70s early 80s

Great shots of the "Hot Hoose" as we called it when we frequented the park as school weans. Great times during the summer holidays spent in the boating pond and a visit to the hot hoose and chased by the parkie (parkkeeper)

Does anyone remember using fishing nets bought for about a shilling to catch baggie minnows in the ponds in the parks around the city and if you caught a large one it was called a doctor....Anyone know why they were called that ?

You can make out the perimiter wall and the area that was occupied by the park workers looks like some buildings still there in whatever state of disrepair ..you might get some goodies in there

Yes, I saw the walled area but what you can't see from that shot is how drastically overgrown it is now.... its 10' of thorny bushes

Reminds me of a documentry that was on last year about life after man if we disapeared overnight.. It reckoned within one thousand years there would be no trace of any builings or anything...see what they meant looking at the hothouse.Going to vist an old ammo dump out in the wilderness plantation in Bishopbriggs soon..all the buildings are still there and although overgrown are accessable...Fancy it?

Sure is Kate.. Go by the dump and after the two right angled bends in the road then turn right into the lane and follow it through the farm and by the houses and old pumping station and its straight ahead...Its ok to go through the farm as the private houses are accessed this way.. My cousin lives in one of them so I know its no prob to go there..worst that will happen is he will be out chatting you up.

Thanks so much Kev9!! Lucky you gave me directions because I'd always imagined it to be on the other side of the road for some reason. I checked out the link you posted, there's some fantastic photos on there. I've located it on Google maps and will try to get up there at some point over the weekend. Thanks again

Never heard of this place. I am working in Springburn all summer, must take a trip along after work one day! And the Bishopbriggs place too if I can find it!

Just looked at google maps and I am only a ten minute walk from springburn park!

If you need directions to the Bishopbriggs one give me a shout. I took a trip up there on Saturday after Kev9 kindly pointing me in the right direction and it's certainly worth a visit :)

So I started going little walks on my lunchtimes at work and turns out this place is only 10mins walk from my work! Been up 3 or 4 times now, not ventured in yet though, think I'm best waiting til I have someone with me for that!

Bit more greenery than when Stu visited!
