Regent Street
Since reading the book "A murder most curious", I had been pretty engrossed in the Madeleine Smith murder trial. She was apparently born in Regent St, but after lots of "googling" and searching I could only come up with West Regent Street. A week or so ago someone posted here or in Hidden Glasgow the above 1800's map. Imagine my suprise, when it turns out that Regent Street was originally an extension of Blackfriars Street and ran through what is now Collegelands just off High Street.................just yards from where I live !

It makes sense a little... if you think of the line West Regent Street takes

I am sure I read a little about Regent Street somewhere. If I come across it I will post it up.
Well done Scott. Hopefully someone will get along there soon to take some photos of the area as it is today.
