Polphail, the ghost village at Portavadie, Argyll

cybers

I see they have removed the asbestos notices from there !
Great set of images all the same schiehallion.

It still reminds me of Boghall Bathgate on a saturday night though.
Scary

Cheers schiehallion

They look a bit ramshackle almost GKC with the concrete/ brick / timber theme and falling down like lot of their projects.

Aye it was a dead sheep in a room.  I was creeping along an empty corridor when a door burst open and a sheep and its' lamb came hurtling out in panic.  I screamed like a big lassie.

Looks like an interesting place to visit though, great pictures!

I'd love a wee nosy about there, wee mental note made for a future day out.
schiehallion

Great wee day out - go the scenic route - take the car over Wemyss Bay to Rothesay then drive up to Rhubodach and go across the Kyles Of Bute to Colintraive then round by Tighnabruaich to Portavadie.  Or go Gourock-Dunoon.  Top it off with a foot passenger return trip Portavadie to Tarbert and a cone out the wee cafe.

Cracking pics Schiehallion.

Is that the village which was built by a Local Council for shipping business that never came? Occupied or abandoned; the place just looks grim and creepy to me.

wee minx

Waow, that's a long run , but I'm up for that , i would be a driver , as I would deffo get sick along that road, it's nearly at Machrahanish . Up dead early, good long run, loads to see...sounds good .
Looks like something that would have to be short notice to be best chance of reasonable weather.
cybers

Sounds like the start of a plan....
Saltmarketeer

Macrahanish eh?

I'm sure there's a rather funky runway up that neck of the woods too. One of the longest in Europe and alleged testing runway of the fabled Mach 6 Aurora black jet project.
