Lord Provost's Childrens Party & Seniors Christmas Lunch
Didn't know where best to post these photos but thought that it may be of interest to others.
Every year the Lord Provost hosts a party for children with special needs. Staff from the Council based within the City Chambers help out to ensure that the children have a memorable day. They also go round all the offices in the City Chambers collecting money from staff for charity.
I happened to be going into the City Chambers on Friday when the children were arriving for the party to be greeted by a variety of what looked like the cast of a pantomime.
Whilst everyone looked splendid the Dalmatian stole the show. The children where facinated by the antics of this dog and it wasn't long before a que was formed as they all wanted to play and tickle the dog.

Characters from all the films where available to greet the children.
Prince Charming
The Mad Hatter
Mary Poppins and Sylvester
Tweety Pie
Snow White and the Evil Queen and Cinderella
Lots more where waiting to join in the party mood and ensure that the children had a great day.

Looks like it was memorable day for the children Alex.
In these dark days of cut backs I for one am glad this was not one of them.
What price can be put on the happiness of a child who has to cope with difficulties all year round.
A round of heartfelt applause to the Council for this one and indeed to everyone involved in making this day special.

The usual activities for the party where laid on with plenty of dancing involved.
I understand that before the party ended Santa made a surprise visit to give the children an early present. Unfortunately

Thanks Cybers
As you can see from the photos above it looks like it was an enjoable time for the Children as well as the staff
Later after the party was over the staff made their yearly tour of the offices within the City Chambers to raise some money for charity.
Lead off by none other than Santa.
And here are the group of staff in one of the offices.

Looks like it was a memorable day indeed.
That hall/room where the party was held has it a special purpose as it does look very grand.

This week has been the Seniors Christmas Lunch. Every day all week many of Glasgow's Seniors came to the City Chambers for their Christmas Lunch with some light entertainment as well. I am working on a video of this and will post it somewhere later.

The Lord Provost hosts Chrismas Lunch for Glasgow's Seniors every year.
They take place throughout the week with entertainment provided. Unfortunately I didn't manage to film the second half.
