She went at 15.18
The Waverley was there... she was hiding in the dock at the side and popped out all of a sudden. They then tied her up on the opposite bank outside the Glasgow Harbour Development where she made some noise

I learned my mistake after being in the yard for the launch of the Dauntless. It's just too close to the ship and not really that interesting where as there is alot more activity on the water and you can see the boat hit the water.

Thanks for sharing but to be honest and i would put cash on not bieng alone in this....
Who took those photo's...
For official launch photo's they seem to be lacking something a bit of pop they just seem a bit flat ..... Might just be how i am looking at them but i bet most on here could have bettered them given the opportunity...
Am I Alone ?

Hello all,
A first time post for me on this very addictive site. Too many hours spent with my Dad trawling through the endless amazing pics.
My main interest is the Clyde. Grew up in Scotstoun through the late 70's to the present day. I have a blog of sorts based on the river and the shipping movements. Also the two yards and the ongoing T45 work and the two Trinidad & Tobago OPV's that Yarrow's are now working on.
http://www.upperclydeshipping.com/
The pics posted by Norrie from the Northbank were taken by an official BVT photographer, I think. I got chatting to him after the launch. He was with a cameraman.
Anyway, thanks for a great website. A wondeful window into our past.
I've tried to add some pics from the launch day but I don't know how to. Loads of shots can be seen at the above plug.
Regards,
Barry

Hi Barry, just had a quick look at your site, great stuff.
I have placed it in my favourites, will look at in in depth later.
Welcome to Urban Glasgow.
Posting photos is easy, once you copy your photo from Photobucket etc, paste it in the reply box, highlight by dragging the mouse along the script, once that done click on the icon above the reply box called IMG, thats it

Can't really explain too much about it but think with that comment i shot myself right in the head never mind the foot
It's caused a bit of a giggle though and i still stand by my original point.
Norrie i was not implying you had done anything to them as even compression could not dull them down.
Welcome alonfg to Urban Glasgow Barry

Hi cybers, its OK, the photos were not of the best quality, even mine were better
Still its a record of what went on, look at what we are like when we see an old street photo of Glasgow that none of us have seen, we dont say the quality is poor, we are just glad to have a photo of the street, well that the way I see it.
Better a poor photo than no photo
Bye for now, norrie
