Glasgow Train Journeys - VIDEOI've come across a video of a train from Penrith to Glasgow Central. 1hr 36min from the front of the train.
Now that is all the info I have but if anyone would like it uploaded let me know.
There's commentary from the driver and the cameraman/interviewer.
If anyone has anymore info let me know please. There's many more videos available for stations all over the UK.
Again, no idea on date or anything else.
Queen Street - Fort William
PARTS 6,12 AND 19 NOW REPLACED IN THE MAIN LINK.

I should've named this thread differently.
I've got another one from Glasgow Queen Street - Fort William. Much better audio and general information.
Penrith - Glasgow Central Sample. http://www.mediafire.com/?2omwyzumdtg
I'll add the other sample in a minute.

Done. You're never too old to be a noob.

Aye so does anybody want the full videos uploaded?
The Queen Street vid is much more interesting than the other one so I'll do that anyway.

I was gonnae ask you that. It mentions the "newly opened Cowlairs Chord"
which, IIRC, opened in September 1993. Having said that, it was about a year and
a bit late in coming into use and if you look carefully in the sample video it looks
like the new chord isn't actually connected to the single lead line, 2m 7secs in
on the extreme right of the video.
One for our resisdent rail experts to clear up...

Well I might not be more than a midgeys bawhair away with that guess then.
1% complete. 3 hours remaining. 19 parts.

I'm not really into railways that much (I know, I know) but I'm looking forward to watching this.
The narrator sounds like Paul Coia which would also make early-mid nineties about right.

I'm the same, I'm not really into trains except when it's bringin me up the road from work but this does look quite interesting.
As I said it's in 19 parts so once one is complete I'll post the link in the first post so you're not waiting too long and no one is getting mixed up.
And good shout on Paul Coia.

The first post has been ammended to include the folder for the download. Just keep checking back over the next couple of hours untill there's 19 parts.
You'll need WinRar, 7zip or some other archiving tool to extract the video.
Part one is up.
Part two is up
Part three is up

All parts are now uploaded.

LowLight, I've got them all down but I can't extract files 6, 12 & 19. The error message says that that the "CRC failed" and that "the file is corrupt"
Any ideas?

cheesy there might just have been a problem uploading. If you can't repair the files I'll upload them again tonight.
Anybody else having this problem?
|
james73

I'm downloading 'em just now - only at part 6. I'll report any errors if I find them.

I tried different ways of extracting and that didn't work then deleted the three files and downloaded them again and it's still reporting the same errors.

I suggest downloading them again... I find that these upload servers give quite a few crc errors
|

I did Stu, I downloaded the whole lot twice and it's still reporting the same errors on the same files.

Did you try downloading the faulty ones to a completely new location?
James H
|
cheesylion

Yeah J, first I downloaded it to an external hard drive and the second time I saved it on my desktop.
Is your copy extracting ok?

When I try to extract one file it's saying it needs the file I'm currently downloading!
Going to wait until I have all the files, on part 13 just now.

Clear your cache first... it might be copying the already downloaded one

OK they are extracting fine but I'm uploading parts 6, 12 and 19 again. Link to follow.

I've just downloaded the 3 new files, deleted the old ones and renamed the new
ones to the same format as the old ones. Seems to be fine mate.
Many thanks, LL.

(Just watching the full thing now...)
The Maryhill/Anniesland line has none of the intermediate stations and, IIRC, the
then Maryhill line was reopened in late 1993?
Given the commentators remarks, I'd hazard a guess at summer 1993.

Glad you got it sorted LL. Just got in, downloading the new files but I won't get a chance to check it out now until tomorrow night. Looking forward to it though.

Nice one CL. Let me know how it goes.

I can't believe it!! After all the bother I had downloading it, the bit I particularly wanted to see isn't there!! I hadn't realised that it would concentrate on stations and junctions along the way rather than showing the whole journey, the bit I wanted to see is between two stations and seems to have been edited out. Lol
It's still a good watch though LL, a brilliant find and thanks for going to all the trouble you did to upload it.
