Thought I would post this photo as it has some features which I know will be of interest to others on here.
This is from the Virtual Mitchell and is the Station Bar at Stobbcross Street in Anderston.
First thing to notice is that the Virtual Mitchell have now started to watermark all their photos.
Featured in this photo is also an old public toilet, an old Police Box and a couple of old Telephone Boxes.
Unfortunately the Post Box is hidden behind the car parked on the road. There is another object which I can't identify. It is located to the right of the Post Box between that and the Police Box. does anyone know what it is?

Fullerton Park, TollcrossThe Fullerton Park was converted to a pub in the late 1970's and was originally called the Sandmyle.
When it first opened it was frequented by many of the workers from British Steel Tube Works which was located next door and to the rear of the pub.

I'd love to get time to research the history of that building and the transformation to a pub.
It opened when I was working in the Tube Works and I think there was originally problems with it getting a licence. When it opened the quality of the finish was excellent. Being too young to drink at the time I was only ever given details of this new pub second hand. I often wanted to go in and see what it was like inside. It looked great from the outside and from what I could see the interior included some blue tartan.

I was off out Galavanting yesterday evening, to a small Glaswegian Hamlet known as Partick, to take a listen to our Lone Groover do his thing.
A bloody good turn it was too .. and in very nicely mellow traditional surroundings (complete with stained glass and everything) ..
... it even contained a little 'snug' type "Pub within a pub" which I christened "The Doorway To Narnia" as most of the very pleasant folk stumbling from it seemed to be on a little world of their own. A world that was all warm and snuggly and smelled comfortingly of nice beer and warm stew.
The two resident Musos, our Dave and Gerry, tuned up their instruments and chanting equipment ...
... imbibed themselves with all the essential ingredients ...
... and off they went on a highly entertaining set of polished and professional blues covers.
There were even some 'found faces' hidden in amongst the rustic, strangely inviting masonry ...
In fact, the only down side to the evening was catching this ugly bastard staring at me from across the bar.
All in all a good wee night .. in case you want to check things out yourself get yourself to the Lismore Bar, Dumbarton Road .. half 5 to half seven. You never know .. you might even enjoy yourself.

The CartI have known for some time that The Cart was going to be demolished and kept meaning to get down for a photo before the event. Never managed to get there in all that time untill the day after they started the demolition.
The sign was still in place but when I passed there the following day it was gone.
