that's one of the first things I learnt about Glasgow from my grandad. We used to stay in Norfolk court at the Gorbals and walk over the bridge daily, brought back some memories there.

First one is on a bridge support (former) beside the Kelvin near Greek Thomsons '60 steps'... I dont know when the bridge was removed but I can tell you it was a big bridge.

Bought this tatty panel from Ebay the other day, it was cut from a bus.
It's actually a bit of a social statement on the state of GCT, as there are traces of an earlier coat of arms underneath which has been painted over, but that one was put on straight. By the late 1960's - early 1970's standards were slipping

Isn't it near the People's Palace on Glasgow Green?
I think the names represent the countries of the Commonwealth.

Its the Doulton Fountain. It lives outside the People's Palace on glasgow Green - it was originally in Kelvingrove park and was moved to the green over 100 years ago. More recently it has been restored and moved to its current location from another part of the Green, near Nelson's monument
The countries depicted are the major countries of the Empire
