Glasgow BooksThere are lots of books available which depict Glasgow in one form or another.
What books have you either got of seen that dedicated to Glasgow? They may just be books of photos or tell the history of Glasgow. They may just feature Glasgow as part of a fictional story.
If you know of any book why not let everyone else know by posting something about it here.
To get things started here are two small books -
The Wee Glasgow Facts Book
Full of interesting facts relating to Glasgow. This book first appeared in 1989 and contains 54 pages. Compiled by Jack & Paul Devlin and published by Straight Line Publishing Ltd.
One of the facts contained in the book -
"The Buttery Restaurant, at the west end of Argyle Street, is housed in the last weavers tenement in the Anderston District. 'Buttery' means storehouse."
Glasgow - A Hundred Years Ago
Reprinted by The Molendinar Press in 1972 is the "Tweed's Guide to Glasgow" from 1872.
This book is the 1973 copy and contains some great detail of Glasgow from over 130 years ago.
An extract from the section on "Jail Square, Court House &e."
"At the north side of the square is squatted a low wooden erection sacred to the vending of old clothes, better known as Paddy's Market. It is unsightly in appearance, unpleasant in its associations, and it is to be hoped will soon be removed."
What books about Glasgow have you seen or own?

The Big Men, is the finest book on the insiders view of the old Glasgow police.
There's been loads of tramway & railway books of course. This is probably the rarest one i've got, Glasgow Municipal Transport, published in 1934 by GCT themselves. Bit of PR spin and all that

This is a cracker, i actually bought this twice, as i lent my first copy to a workmate, she then got sacked. Never got it back...
Anyway, if you have not read this, then it is a must, i've read it 3 times, gives you as much info about glasgow as you might need...and then some.
Details everything, from dredging the clyde to modern housing... ...
