GeneologyCan anyone help me on this? (the formidable Alex Glass is already looking into it, but any extra advice would be most welcome)
I am trying to gather ANY info i can on a relation of mine. I know very little of him, all i do know is that he was named "William Hunter" and was employed as a Lift-Attendant in the Glasgow Central Station Hotel around 1931 and 1932. I dont know his place or date of birth or where he lived. I suspect he may have been born around 1905 to 1916, but that is just an estimated guess. The Central Station Hotel is closed so no chance of any info there.
Does any one know if archived Employee records are held anywhere or are there other avenues worth going down? I have no idea how to go about this!
Thanks

How about checking with the respective former railway companies since the hotel was railway owned originally. Someone else here will probably tell you which company. It shut as a Quality hotel but wasnt always owned by them

Have you been on the Registrars of Scotland website? You can access the 1911 census (I think) and you would be able to search for 'William Hunter' for birth certificates, marraige certificates and of course death certificates. The last two also record employment.

He would've been an employee of The London, Midland & Scottish (LMS) Railway then since they'd taken over The Caledonian Railway some years before I think?
