A far cry from the new house my parents got when we all moved to Milton in the 50s.
Council houses have come a long way from those days.
I was shown around a new house in Oatlands, the kitchen was a big as my living room.
Bye for now, norrie

Mr U

David Street is just off the Gallowgate before you come to the junction of Fielden Street and Millerston Street. It is right next door to St Mungo's Secondary School. Camlachie/Barrowfield

Tell us more GK

This map from 1893-4 shows it best. David St runs up the centre.

On the right is Crownpoint Depot & Works, (aka Bluevale Depot) of the Glasgow Tramway & Omnibus Co, their main manufacturing, repair & overhaul centre.
Across David St on the left (under construction on the map) is the Glasgow Corporation Tramway's Whitevale Depot. Although it's bays actually faced on to Rowchester Street, the next street west.

Dunno where the new houses are built, might not actually be right on this bit

Almost forgot, here's a horse tram on David St. It was brought on to the works track fan and derailed to be photographed.
Alex Glass

GK

The flats are build fronting onto Gallowgate. There are also new houses built on what would have been the site of the Tramway Depot.

in the background of this photo is the new St Mungo's School which was built further west than the previous school which would have been on the other side of Rowchester Street.

Cheers Alex I can picture it better now in relation to everything.

Strangely I work only a few streets from there, never even knew this building was going on

Here is the view from one of the flats onto Gallowgate

The old Parkhead Baths

I was looking at that building for access.... appears quite difficult since most of the doors are bricked up
cybers

Aye well laid oot kitchens should cut down on the amount of chain needed...
From cooker to sink   Erm and the baths are the Whitevale Baths no parkhead as stated.
access used to be had via the stairs round the back Stu then a wee climb over the balcony accross the roof and onto the viewing gallery.
Used to be a steel security door that could be bypassed with a magic key
norrie

Hi glasgowken, thanks for the information about the tramways depots in David Street and the photo, very interesting.
Do you mind if I use this information to be added to Glescapals, being a site that starteed for Bridgeton they will find this of interest.
I will of course pass on the credit to you.
Bye for now, norrie
glasgowken

Of course, feel free Norrie

Other Person Photographed

Alex,You got the wrong end of the stick,I didn't want to know where they were,  I wanted to know who the other person photographed was and where they were in the photo.
cybers

He is too modest to name and shame the SNP
Alex Glass

Sorry Cybers

That will teach me to listen to young ladies when they talk of such things.

Stu

Currently promised a look at the master plan for the building and trying to get access.

Mr U

I didn't want to name those who appeared as it may attract the wrong sort of comment. Sorry
norrie

Hi glasgowken, thanks for that.
If I have anything you need just ask.
Bye for now, norrie

Damn no emotes of a big size 9 and a crowbar ... lol
Used to have a cooncil key for the steel security doors that lead up to the flats round the back of the building.

Alex if access is granted any chance of a wee look as my nana worked in here till she retired.
It was also the baths for my school.
Not been in there in years and was wondering if my name was still in the dirt in the bottom of the pool
