College & Uni eateriesI'm involved in a Saturday morning course at Central College just now and used their refrectory last weekend when in desperate need of an uplifting breakfast. You can get a fairly passable 5 item fry-up for two quid - which I thought was a good deal in a really clean and acceptable environment. Even though the coffee was another (reasonable) £1.20 on top it was a very generous bucket full.
The Tuesday evening before at Metropolitan College in the big central tower building behind George Square, I went into (and walked right back out of) a ghastly, dingy cafe thing; dark blue painted walls, poorly stocked, sticky tables etc.
I’ve recently met several times with folks in the big refrectory area in Glasgow Caledonian University and found that lively as well as good value and attractive.
Both Central and Cally have the added advantage of the adjacent library area you can use (although, of course, not eat or drink in).
Anyone else got any opinions on these or other such places?

I used the cally one a few times when I was there and quite liked it.... they had a vending machine that did cups of cola with crushed ice
