Castle Campbell - DollarCastle Campbell is an imposing 15th century Castle built in the picturesque Dollar Glen in the Ochil hills.
Originally Called Castle Gloom it was approved a name change to the present name by King James the IV. The Castle itself is built on a mound with three very steep ravines with a great view out over the town of Dollar. The castle was Sacked in 1654 by Scots in retaliation for Argyles support to Oliver Cromwell.
As I started to climb towards the castle and it came into view i was truly stunned at the location and the structure so much so i had to pause for moment.
Well worth the visit...
Will add to this as i get thru the photo's

Well if you do decide to go take a packed lunch for the trek from the bottom car park
If by some miracle you get to use the top car park 2 mutton pies a bag of crisps and 4 bottles of water should suffice
Oh and don't forget your Ray Mear's Survival Handbook

I do love Castle Campbell. Not been in for years because I hate having to pay to get in! Love walking round the glen though, its absolutely beautiful. Was up there last autumn and the place was absolutely hoaching with Dor beetles, very cool little critters!
