I don't know if anyone else can hear them but I love the run-up to the Pipe Band Championships. Opening the windows in the morning to the sunshine and listening to people from all over the world playing the pipes. Absolutely fantastic!
Must be good for the tourists who land in the city centre and hear that too. It seems more authentic to me than the shops selling hairy highlanders and overpriced knitwear.

Piping Live is on soon.
A week long serious of events in the City mainly in George Square. Finishing off with the World Pipe Band Championship on Saturday 15th August in Glasgow Green.
On the Friday there is a march past through the City Centre to George Square. If you like the bagpipes you really should get yourself into town next week.

I'm already taking bookings from family and friends coming to my flat as it's opposite the Green. I've never been so popular.
Can't wait.

Was able to get some video of one of the bands in the Square today. Will upload it to YouTube when I have more time.
Get yourself to the square before lunchtime tomorrow and nad a seat in the stand for a special performance by the bands performing at the Edinburgh Tattoo this year. I think the march past takes place at about 12.00.
Should be a good show if the rain holds off. May be wise to take a brolly.

Fantastic Alex, thanks for putting that up. I often wondered what Biff from Back to the Future did after those films. Seems he's playing with the Oran Mor Pipe Band.
On a side note it's no wonder we scared the crap out of our enemies. Can you imagine being in the mountains knowing you were in for a fight and hearing that but not being able to see anyone? Must have chilled the blood.

Here are some photos of the performers from the Edinburgh Military Tattoo
Unfortunately I didn't manage to see any of their performances in the arena but did get some video of a practice by some of the pipes and drums at the corner of the Square. I will post that up later once I use up the remaining space on the disc.

Fantastic event and credit where it's due. Hats off to the Council.
I'm left with one question I didn't have the courage to ask (mainly because they had big sticks)...
