Bad Bob was named after the character in the Movie The lives and Times of Judge Roy Bean. The character was a mean nasty Albino cowboy.
Bad Bob desreved the title I think for his hatred of cats. He was a very keen gardener but a trifle short sighted. There must be nothing worse than poking the soil weeding etc and getting cat poo all over your wee green fingers. This used to cause him to go into wild spasms, ranting and raving. Years before he went shooting wildfowl. and was quite a callous old bastard. So he got a loan of an air rifle I owned and tried shooting these cats soiling his beloved garden. However the noise from the rifle was a bit loud and the cats were very wary. So not wishing to attract attention from his cat owning neighbours he resorted to snaring them. When I visited him he would remark that a new kill was now buried under a particular paving slab. Very soon most of the neighbours cats had become the disappeared. His badness in other directions is another tale. As for his attirein picture he was in a pub on the way home after a week in the north bagging Munros. hence the appearance. He was admiring an object that reminded him of his much smaller testicles wishing his were as large. Once in Knoydart he was so taken by a well hung bull in a field wooing a cow that he got near to take a photograph just as an astonished farmer drove past in a landy. Bad Bob still is around and in his late eighties. He frequents a place in Maryhill called Framptons. Say no more if you canny get a lumber there you might as well pack life in. |

Where,when and how did you know Billy Billings?? Basically he wasn't a bad sort. He just loved the hills. He was one of thosre along with the likes of Tom Weir who went up to the fie at Craigallion. He knew them all. Yet he spent most of his life away from the hills and only went back when he met up with BB and myself. He was the most pigheaded clumsiest person you'd ever meet . A hole to fall down, stone to trip over, a gate or fence to fall . He would surely find it. There are many tales of Billy and his misdventures......... |

Yes wee Billy was truly a larger than life character. The stories of him on the hills are legendary. However if you knew Billy you must know Bad Bob .
He is still around. Both are well mentioned in my book. |

Stukky was a telegraphist in Royal Navy in WW2. He served on HMS Bergamot a Flower class corvette. Same as in movie The Cruel Sea. Saw action in South Atlantic based at Freetown. Also took part in Russian convoys. Yes the wee man had stories to tell. | ||||
