Bikers burning up at city show (Evening Times)
THE heat was on as thousands of spectators watched top superbike competitors
show off their skills as temperatures soared.
George Square was transformed for a feast of biking as Britain's fastest racers
came to Glasgow ahead of the Knockhill extravaganza this weekend.
Between 5.30pm and 8pm last night, traffic in the area was brought to a standstill
as more than 15,000 people watched the action.
They also got the chance to get autographs and pictures and see vintage
vehicles, exhibition racing, and entertainment from the Scottish Rockettes
cheerleaders.
Stuart Easton, of Hawick, who is currently third in the British Superbikes
Championship, and Jonathan Adam, from Fife, who competes in the British
Touring Car Champ- ionship, provided the Scottish racing talent.
Easton said of the city event: "It's a nice and relaxed atmosphere and lets the
fans have a closer look and see first hand what it's like."
Jillian Shedden, the managing director of Fife's Knockhill Racing Circuit, said:
"It's brilliant to bring superbikes to people."
