Fantastic shots mate.........
We were at perth a few weeks ago but only had a compact.
We are also of to Luechars in September with the big boy....I just hope to capture pics like yours.
PS..........The hawker hunter is amazing. |

Cheers Fastnet. With East Fortune no longer having an operational runway, the Vulcan came up from the Sunderland Airshow so we weren't treated to a take off (just like Leuchars last year when it just ran up and down the runway due to low cloud).
However during the display when those 4 Bristol Olympus engines kick out thrust to gain just a few hundred feet of altitude, your rib cage rattles. Brilliant stuff.
Hopefully you'll see it at Leuchars. I'm coming back from the Black Isle that day but if the weather forecast is good, I'll detour across Fife.

Schiehallion what a great set of images.
For me the chinook would be the star of the show.
always amazed by the whap whap noise they make. Though the vulcan holds a special place for anyone remotely interested in aviation and the jet engine in general when it comes to whirlies the chinook is king.

Schiehallion, haven't seen old planes like that flying for ages.
Brilliant photos that brought back fond memories of when my Dad (ex RAF, WWII) used to take my older brother and me to Abbotsinch for the Airshow there every year during the late 1950's.

Yes,excellent pics.
That Chinook looks like its going to crash!
I remember once at secondary school,a Vulcan flew over - some noise.

Great pics and lucky with the weather but I reckon that delta wing design was knocked from the nazis after WW2. It's still a sinister looking aircraft even by today's standards.
That vertical climb is impressive.... it's defying the laws of psychic's or something!??

The designers, Avro, openly admit that the cranked delta was inspired by late WW2 German designs like the Schwalbe and the Komet. As for the climb performance it might make more sense when you realise those are essentially early Concorde engines in there. The only difference is no supersonic inlets with their moveable ramps and the Vulcan ones were non after burning.
Beautiful jet.

My photos got slated on the Canon forums (bunch of fannies) because I'm using too fast a shutter speed thus stopping the propellers and rotors. That's why the Chinook looks gubbed.
Apparently I shouldn't go over 1/200th to get a rotor blur effect which I'll try out at Leuchars in September.
